Orlando

While visiting Orlando Florida I was fortunate to find some time to photograph the city at night and then visit some of the local parks during the day to come up with this contrasting collection of photos from the area.

Lake Eola provides great reflections of the downtown Orlando buildings and many interesting subjects.  It is a popular spot for runners and other photographers!  I knew I wanted to photograph "Take Flight" a great sculpture by Kentucky based Artist Douwe Blumberg and the interesting cypress trees that grow in the water.

The first park I visited was the Orlando Wetlands Park.  As it was Florida after all, I went with the idea to get an image with a palm tree with the wetland landscape or wildlife in the background.  Unfortunately the Ranger had a rather early interpretation of sunset which cut my visit short just as the sky was getting interesting.

Lake Louisa State Park was my last stop.  I arrived just as the ranger opened the gates to see the sunrise.  A very nice lake and park that would be much more fun to explore with bug spray!

Fall Colors

As fall approaches and the leaves prepare to turn colors I have been scouting some new locations and reviewing old favorites from last year to shoot this season.  Here are some of my favorites from 2013 that I'll definitely be visiting again this year.

The Raven Cliff Falls overlook in Caesars Head State Park last year was one of my most popular images.  Full of great color and a perfect cool morning to hike the 2 miles to the overlook.

Table Rock State Park contains Pinnacle and Table Rock mountains which both offer plenty of strenuous hikes and great views of the fall colors.  However one can get an easy view of the mountains from Caesers Head State park which has an easy to access overlook facing Table Rock.

However my favorite way to photograph fall colors is with Table Rock reflected in one of two lakes near its base.  Lake Oolenoy and Pinnacle Lake both provide great views of Table Rock with still waters for a perfect reflection.

A Bridge Over the River Thames

Not the London Bridge or Tower Bridge...but the Hammersmith Bridge!

I had never heard of this bridge before but while staying on the outskirts of London prior to taking a flight home from Heathrow International Airport I got up early to catch  a great sunrise over the bridge and watch the many international flights make their approach to the airport.

Pedestrian walkways run on both sides of the river offering good views of the bridge and a small island which splits the lanes of traffic at one end is perfect for a head-on view for the brave of heart.
